what's the easiest way to get mp3 support for xmms?
i don't want to use the rpm, but trying from source doesn't work, cause when i installed redhat9 from the cd's, it seems it forgot to put my kernel source in /usr/src, no matter how many times i reinstall ( three times, as of this post ). if you know where i could get the latest kernel source, or an easier way to get mp3 support for xmms, or whaterver ( keeping in mind that i've never compiled my own kernel.. yet...)
Its asked all the time here, you need to install mpg123.
Goto http://www.xmms.org and they have links to download and addresses this problem with the latest Redhat releases since Redhat doesn't include non-GPL software no longer in their distro.
PS. Recompiling your kernel has nothing to do with supporting mp3's, just to let you know. So you can stay clear of that for now.. kernel is mainly for supporting hardware, not software in most cases and definitely not mp3 support.
