mouse prob RH8
Hi,
Am new to this Linux stuff and although I've managed to get RedHat 8.0 installed when I startx, I get into KDE and my mouse is frozen in the centre of the screen. I have a book that says I should use XConfigurator - but it doesn't seem to exist. I've tried redhat-config-xfree86, but that doesn't have any options for mice. In the XF86Config file, there are 2 entries that sound like they might be relevant, mouse 0 (PS/2, /dev/psaux) and DevInputMice (IMPS/2, /dev/input/mice) but I don't really know what that means. Am I even looking in the right place?
I found a post that said something about something in the config file needing to point to the right port. Leaving me wondering a) What's a port? , b) How do I know if it's the right one and c) If it's the wrong one, how do I change it?
If someone could point me in the right direction, it would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers, Cxx.

First of all what kind of mouse do you have and how does it attach to your computer. next open up /etc/X11/XF86config and look for a section that looks like this:
Section "InputDevice"
# Identifier and driver
Identifier "Mouse1"
Driver "mouse"
Option "Protocol" "IMPS/2"
Option "Device" "/dev/mouse"
Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
That's mine, yours may look a little different, please post it.
I think that with RH 8.0 they axed the XConfigurator. You can still use xf86config but it's probably just easier to edit the config file by hand.

Fixed it by reinstalling. God knows what was wrong. Thanks for your help anyway. Would have replied earlier, but got distracted by having new toy to play with...
