more than two distros

Hello,

I want to install 4 linux distros (Kali, Tiny, Tails, Ubuntu-server) on one 64Gb Stick. I fear to make some mistakes and need help. Which distro should I install at first and which one in the end? Should I prepare the Stick at first and how? I have a desktop-pc an which I want to do this projekt. Should I switch off the hdd of this pc an change the boot priority of this pc to dvd, stick ....? If the moment comes to install the grub, what point should I set and choose?

Thanks. Regards

Hi:

You should format and partition the usb first. That way you will have less stress.
Give g-parted a spin.
https://gparted.org/livecd.php

Are you going to be using a Windows os or a Linux os to format? <<I'm not good with Windows>>.

Kali Linux requires a minimum of 20 GB for the ext 4 partition as does Ubuntu server.
That's already 40 GB's not including the swap partitions or the partitions for Tails and Tiny Core.
Tails can be installed to a usb but I'm not sure what the mimimum requirement is. Best to read the documentation.

When you want to boot your 64 GB usb device (after all of the distro's are installed) yes, you will have to change the boot order in the BIOS to usb.

When it comes time for the bootloader to install you would intall it to the MBR.
Just make sure that the usb device is chosen during the installtion so Grub will know where to install to.

As far as the order in which you should install:-
I'd install Ubuntu Server first unless Kali Linux has a larger sized .iso. Than move onto Tiny Core and than Tails.

Good Luck-

If you have a windows machine, you can use YUMI to create a multi-distro bootable USB.
I have one with Kali, DSL, Tails, Knoppix, UltimateBootCD, SystemRescueCD, TrinityRescueKit and a couple of other distros in it.

Thank you. I will try all steps.

One question to Yumi. As I understand, this wont be a persistence usb stick, only a bootable, or?

Some Ubuntu-based operating systems on a YUMI stick can be made to work with persistence - there's an option to choose that when installing the distro on the stick.

Note, however, that if you are using YUMI under WINE on Linux then creating persistence is currently broken when using the latest YUMI version 2.0.5.6.
