Right on! I just went and reinstalled net-tools and chose the applicable options muhself. Got jed goin' good after adding a couple paths and I've just finished d/ling zlib, openssl and openssh...Gonna get those goin' I spose and see what I can't fart up! LOL I took a look at the d/l sizes of X4.1 and thought i'd put it off for now haha...56k isn't gonna do it. May be able to "steal" it from Slack..We'll see...;)

I just downloaded and installed XFree4.0.2 (had issues with 4.1) on Pleb. It fussed a bit until I got it pointed at /dev/psaux for the mouse... I haven't got an .Xauthority file so it just starts a blank boring old X screen, but I got X working. Next, on to fiddling with the auth and init problems and then... Gnome? Hell,

Diablo2 runs really well in WineX
I suppose you know that Diablo2 works very well under WineX right? If thats the only reason you keep windows then I would be getting ready to repartition soon. :)

No Kidding... Thanks Sickboy... now If I re-partition the 40 Gig, build an LFS on it slim enough to wedgie anything... then build X specifically for pimp graphics and WINE... hmm... Oh my goodness, this would be a Distro stictly built so I can play DiabloII!

Hehe, a Diablo Distro huh? That'd be interesting...Good job on the X and getting it to work! I think it'll be a little while before I attempt it. I installed zlib, openssl/ssh, and some obscure programs last night. HNB and the jered editor, which seems quite well done. I'm gonna do some polishing for a few days to get it real smooth-like then start with some big things...Pretty neato though...I don't have the capacity to stay up past 1am anymore...LOL So i'm fallin' way behind. :)

Well, seeing as how the powers that be closed our LFS thread from hell with Recoil... Anyway, I just got LFS running on my Athy 1.2, having spent about 6 hours at it instead of 3 days. Its nice when glibc doesn't take 4 hours to compile. Everything went just a bazoo as last time, but hey, this time I knew how not to sweat it. I had to look up this old thread to find your links about the char-major and net-pf-x annoyances. Oh, and I think I'm locking up a lot lately over the athlon/agp bug... hehe! You wouldn't happen to know the line to add to lilo.conf to make that go away? Plebian v1a3* (head cold) That last bit is what I have... miserable bloody weekend. Cheers, Finegan |
