Mandrake 9.1 updates - issues.

Hello,

Need your invaluable suggestions on the following.

Is there any automatic update utility( like windows-update feature, of the evil empire ) in Mandrake 9.1 ?

I do use red-carpet regularly, but I feel its being very selective in terms of security-updates or to update anything new.

The ftp sites suggessted by the Mandrake update are full 'all the time'.

When ever I start installing something new or want to upgrade, what I've, it breaks because the dependencies are not present there( like gaim or apache or php ).

I'm thinking, is this because I've installed the Mandrake 9.1 downloadable version. Is it so ?

All suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.

- Kramer

Moved: More suitable in just the Distribution forum, not the Specific LFS forum where you question is more suitable.

Lightbulb Try this

Control Center/Configuration/Packaging/Mandrake Update. I have found that if I use "ftp://carroll.cac.psu.edu/pub/linux/distributions/mandrake/updates/9.1/RPMS" mirror it works. The others doesn't seem to find any updates but this one finds tons of them. Hope you have broadband. I decided to wait on Mandrake 9.2. 24K would take all night and then some.
