Mandrake 9.1 freezes my machine after i press Enter on install screen.
Is there any reason why Red Hat would install on my machine but not Mandrake. I've tried Mandrake 7.0, 8.0, 9.0, and 9.1. None of them work. I've also tried putting the bios to the fail safe options. When I press Enter on install screen my computer freezes up.
I'm currently running XP Pro and Red Hat 9 on the same hdd and Win2k3 on another hdd.
Here are the specs to my machine:
M/B Gigabyte ga-7n400 pro
AMD XP 2500+
1 gig ram
Lite on CD Burner
Video - ASUS V8420 TD/DVI
If anyone has any thoughts Please Help!!!

It's probably your 1GB ram. It's a known bug in mandrake. They are supposed to have fixed it in the new 9.2 which will be released to the general public in a few weeks so you might want to wait (or join their club and you can get it now).

Thanks for the help quatsch, your info got me passed that point but now I keep getting "The disc does not seem to be an installation cd" message.
So i tried downloading the iso from another site and i get the same thing. I even burned the iso to a different brand of disc.
Could something be wrong with my machine config?

which method are you using? The simple work around from Mandrake or the one with a installation iso (the second link I gave you)? If it's the latter, the instructions should tell you what to do.

If you think you are burning it wrong look here:
http://www.linuxiso.org/viewdoc.php/howtoburn.html
Hope that helps.
Oh, the 1GB of memory is a known bug. Just have to tell it to enable support for it. No biggie.
