Mandrake 8.2 help
i have Win Xp Pro.recently i tried installing Mandrake 8.2 on my 2nd partion, but in the middle of the installation process there a power failure and the comp was shut down. The next time i switched it on,the icon of the partition on which i tried installing it was missing from my comp...but somehow i managed to get it back but the space formatted by Mandrake is now not accessible.i tried formatting the whole partion again but its of no use. i lost abt 1 Gb of space from my 'good - old' 10.2 Gb HD!
is there anyway to get that space back??? |
I hate to say it, boot into Windows and delete that partition. You might have to remove any partitions after that too.
I had a similar problem. I just deleted it with XP's disk management and reinstalled Mandrake. |
i did it,but couldn't recover the lost space!! :(

I'm no guru but have you tried Partition Magic or similar partition program to see what it says about your partition table?

Of course, the space formatted by Mandrake will not be recognised by windows, as windows doesnt recognise linux partitions. If you want to just recover the space for use in windows, use a third party partitioning program. Dont use window's fdisk.
If you want to still install mandrake, you can just go ahead and do it, mandrake's fdisk will read the partition table fine. |
Just remembered how I fixed the problem on my pc. I reinstalled Linux and formatted the partition as FAT32 with the partitioning tool. Then you can format it as a NTFS (if you want).
