just wondering if anyone has any experience or comments about Lycoris. I'm contemplating using it (or Mandrake 8.2).

also, does it come with a partitioner or will i need a third-party program?

i will be partitioning, for i run windows ME at the moment and wish to duel boot in order to still play some games (linux doesn't have a lot of games, does it?).

anyway, thanks for reading.

You dont want Lycoris, stick with Mandrake if you want to use Linux, and actually win something from it.

Linux has quite a few games to play, just check out The Quake series all play on Linux and a few others. Also WineX plays alot of windows games as well

You can still purchase their back catalogue.

This has been said so many times...just search this site for Lycoris or Redmond (its old name).

Lycoris and it's parent, Caldera, only gives you KDE as the choice of GUI. Of course in doing so, they have taken a lot of extra effort to nicely configure it for you.

This distro is for people that don't want to be bothered by too many choices (or any choices for that matter). They have really nice installers, to get you off running quickly.

As with anything running KDE, you need a high horsepower machine to run it at usable speed.

Mandrake gives you more choices, but more bugs.
