Unhappy Lucent Win Modem and Live CD - a tough challenge!

Hello,

I've got an old Satellite Toshiba laptop, where I'd like
to use a live CD linux distribution.
The problem is that the internal modem is a Lucent Win Modem;
DSL and KNOPPIX that I already tried, do not support it.
I tried also SUSE live CD, but it cannot start because RAM=128MB
and 256 is required.
My last hope was to buy an external - serial modem, but ...
...there is no serial port on my laptop!
Is there a driver I could use, or is there any distribution
that supports my modem - and my 128MB RAM?

Thanx in advance!
