Looking to change distro

I currently run Gentoo on my ancient Dell notebook. I will soon be purchasing a new computer and my Dell will move to the living room and be used solely web browsing. I am interested in trying a new distro. I have used Mandrake (hated it), Slackware (liked, but not loved), and Gentoo (which I like a lot), in the past. Any suggestions?

It's hard to help ---- you say that you hated Mandrake (surely you tried Mandriva? ) but you don't say why. I like Mandriva --- and I'm not going to say why. It's personal. I love Slackware too. And Kubuntu. And so on. If you like Gentoo so much, stick with it. If you want to try a new distro, then try all of them. Only you can decide. Good luck.

Depends on what type of distro you're looking to use. Since You like Gentoo and must like tinkering, try some of these.

Sourcemage - Source based distro
Linux From Scratch - Build your own
Arch Linux
Crux Linux
Debian

Just to name a few.

PCLinuxOS .92

This is the distro I use and recommend, Why because it works right out of the box. No need to configure Everything, everything just works. It also comes as a 1 CD install that is a live CD that you can install later if you wish.

if you like Gentoo, maybe you should try Sabayon Linux: http://www.sabayonlinux.org/
