Looking for a good Terminal

I am running Mandrake (hopefully soon to be 8.2 non beta) on my laptop. I am searching for a good terminal shell simialair to windows hyperterminal. Is there such an animal? Should I try and get another distro? Basically I want to connect through a serial rs-232 connection. My goal is to console into my server. Suggestions .........

you don't use a "terminal" in the same sense as windows hyperterminal is only there as it's impossible to run it a nice way. check the terminal howto for instructions on how to do it properly.

hmm, you've not got the slighest idea what he means do you? thought not.

I would i also ask why you decide to post to an answered thread simply to say "I agree", but i know dully well you'd start trying to justify yourself in some way or another, so i won't.

I don't mean to butt in here, but I believe that's why you're getting so much flak from some people in here. As of this post you have 664 posts - how many of them were single lines stating 'I agree', or words to that effect. Please, either change the record or post something useful.

well, exactly, you've dug up some old thread that the author hasn't replied to yet, just to try and hat? prove you're clever? The fact that any terminal emulator will let you run a commmand in linux is utterly not what i meant anyway, that was just trying to clear up a tiny bit of semantic confusion from windows being pants.

you DO know why people ehre don't like you i presume??
