Live distro for kid/child/baby

I have a 20 months old daughter who likes to "help" her father when he is working on the computer. I let her borrow my spare laptop, but I do not let her log in. This is not as fun as she wants it to be.

Is there any kind of (live) distro that will just make sounds and flashes when you press a key/mouse button? That would probably entertain her for ages. And as time goes by she will grow up familiar with different linux-distributions!

If there isn't such a beast - there should be.

What a fantastic idea.

I don't know of any but from experience I can tell you that my grandchildren didn't get used to using the mouse till they were approx. 5 - 6 years of age. We had bought one of those learning laptop toys from a toy store that they got a lot of use out of from age 2 on.

Possibly edubuntu http://www.edubuntu.org/, take a look at http://www.edubuntu.org/UsingEdubuntu and view the "Basic Skills" section. gcompris is geared for kids.

Debian has the "Debian Junior" project which is stuff for kids, http://www.debian.org/devel/debian-jr/ I don't know if there are any live Distros that have all these programs or not...

I don't know if Childsplay is on the edubuntu CD or not.. http://childsplay.sourceforge.net/

A nice dual boot Windows / Debian system with Gcompris, Childsplay, and Debian Junior would be pretty decent for a kid.

Planet Penguin Racer - http://www.planetpenguinracer.com/wi...itle=Main_Page only arrow keys are required to play this.. but I doubt it will run from a Live CD..

Your target age is on the low side, I don't think theres too much at that target audience. Most is a little higher level. best of luck in your search.
