Hi, ok well i have a question (seeing as im on the question board :P)
alright i burnt a copy of Linux XP Desktop 2006 and im having trouble installing it i got all the way to the end of where it copies the install image to the harddrive but then it gives me an error saying "An error occured copying the install image to the harddrive. You may not have enough disk space" but i know its not the disk space becuase i have a completely empty 13GB harddrive :P
so if someone can plz help me
You check the MD5 sums of the ISOs to make sure they're not corrupt. If they are corrupt, then when you burn them, the CDs won't work properly. The site you downloaded from should have .md5 files for the ISOs and you can check yours against those using MD5summer (if you have Windows).

alright i cant find the md5 sum from the site i downloaded the iso from but im pretty sure that the CD isnt corrupt becuase everything works up till i get almost to the end of the setup process
1GB too small for a root partition i think its lots
but anyway i've tryed a 2GB root but still the same
I checked a Linux XP install I did recently.
It is using 2.4GB. There is 1.7GB used by "/usr". That leaves about 0.7GB in the "/" partition. With those numbers both your "/" and "/usr" are very close to minimal.
What happens if you only create a swap and "/"?

Are you over aliquoting partition space?
Your numbers add up to 13GB exactly but a 13GB drive is going to be less because hard drive manufacturers use 1000MB as 1GB. That could cause an insuffucent space message during partitioning instead of the actual file copying.

those numbers are just approximates :P and by the way how do u over allocate partition space the partitioning tool will just tell you that it cant create the partition (wont it )
edit:
haha just re-read ur post and yeah i think i would cause the insuffucent space message but it gets past the formating but just after that it trys to write an "install image" (whatever that is) and thats where my problem is
