Linux Sendmail Server configuration Problem

i downloaded linux sendmail to start a local area sendmail server server. this is what i did:

at the terminal i issue the command:
1.)yum install sendmail
2.)after installing sendmail i created the sendmail.mc file using the command m4 /etc/mail/sendmail.mc > /etc/mail/sendmail.cf

what are the things to edite for the server in sendmail.mc file..??

and how do i configure so that i can send mails to my local area networks without configureing the DNS?

there is a line in the .mc file which binds sendmail locally only. it starts with 127.0.0.1 hash it out, so that computer on your lan can access it. then create some accounts ,thats pretty much what you would need.

i am just using sendmail at local area network is this right??

1.)service sendmail start
2.)mail root@ipaddress <-- of the receiver?
