I am so close to madness....frothingly frustrated
Last week it was REdhat 8, this week it's MAndrake 9 and 9.1. Same bull&^%$ with both - I'm in X windows, I want to know how to enable telnet or SSH or VNC so I can continue to play/learn from my comfortable and warm windows machine (Which is in the house - the linux box is in the garage). Ahh - documenation - WHAT? documentation is all about KD f^ck3n E!!!
How stupid can you get???
Which wise monkey insists this Linux BS is better than windows.....
All I want to know is how do I start VNC or Telnet or SSH -
I see that I have to do something with Xinetd.d system and restart the xinet daemon and the whole F'n thing grinds to almost stop....
Im also new to linux and had the same problems when I install redhat 9. I had to install the telnet application and then edit the /etc/xinetd.d/telnet file and change disable to 'no' then restart the inetd process.
If it's documentation you're after, there be no finer place than TLDP (The Linux Documentation Project). Grantedly some of it is a little more jargon aggressive than others, but if once you start reading through them, you'll soon get used to it.
Oh, and I'll have to agree with you. Linux is c**p. In fact, I think it's positively s**t hot.
