I was asked by the lokal church if I could build up an "Internet Cafe"in the library
I thought best would be to work with LiveCDs because everytime I boot the system is new and no one can write on the non existing harddrives or harm the system in other way.
But there are some more details that I can't solve.
I need that people log in with a number and that allows them to use the computer for one hour or ½ an hour and if the don't use it they can use the rest annother time. But if we don't have limitations there will be allways the same persons there and they block the computers for the others. We want to avoid conflicts from beginning.
The computers shouldn't run only in kiosk mode. People shall be able to use also wordprozessing because there will be several people who in surch of a job might write their curriculum or letters or so on.
And last but not least it should be in German (and/or Italian because we also have an Italian community in that church).
The problem is I can repair computers but I am not an expirenced Linux expert. Does someone know how I could solve that?
Thank you so much - it is really non profit. (Even for me: I am just investing my sparetime to help)
Personally, I use Ubuntu with LTSP, and I find it's a great way of reusing older machines, and is easy to configure and maintain. Most of it is done out of the box for you!
Thank you, I have to try
(but to be honest even because of a lack of English-understanding I "understand nothing but railway station" as we say in German
But maybe I can find someone at the church who practiced his English during the last decades)
Thank you - first I have to try (and with a receive of help with my english) I hope slowly I will be able to put all those theory into practice.
The good thing is I learn something and it isn't my job.
The bed thing is if I fail I disappoint some really nice persons.
(..and they believe that I am able to do that)
But without those hints I got in this forum I would not even know how to start - THANK YOU
PS: If I end like the one in the picture I tell you

Hi there computerophil. I took a look around, there is not much info auf deutsch about the LTSP project, but this link seemed to be interesting to my un-german eye! http://www.linkmatrix.de/index.php?e...torial&tid=907 From what I gather, they focus on knoppix, I still recommend Ubuntu or CentOS, they are alot easier and more developed. Also, Ubuntu has excellent language support, so you won't have to struggle too long with the english!
If I can be of any help, please talk more here, and I will help as much as I can. I have some experience using these systems, and they are very effective.
