Linux distribution for on-line banking? (was: Desktop)
I'm looking to put Linux on my other desktop for online banking and shopping and browsing am I safe doing so I usually use Ubuntu been using that for a number of years but is there a more secure linux OS out or is Ubuntu just as safe you see so much info on this and that on google you don't know but I like how linux is more stable running then Windows tired of that blue or not responding crap and I don't like Apple. I am just looking for a nice user friendly but secure Linux distro to do my home banking thats all and maybe some terminal work to learn more on the commands.

There's not much to choose between distros for basic security, and most risks are caused by user error anyway: not using proper passwords with wireless connection, responding to phishing, etc.
This is a good site for advice: note the "shopping and banking" tab and the "safe Linux use" section under the "protecting your computer" tab.

If you have a router, then that incorporates a firewall. If you have a modem, like a phone company dongle, then you need a firewall on the computer. In all Debian derivatives, like Ubuntu, it's disabled (don't ask why!): install gufw, run it, and click on "unlock" and then "on".

for any normal everyday stuff ...
Any current up to date distro will do
Opensuse 12.3 or 13.1
Fedora 20
Ubuntu13.04
Mint16
.... and so on ....
use what you are used to using and keep it up to date

If you're going to do online banking any good distribution that's stable will work. You should however create a proper iptables firewall script for it and maybe add packages for rkhunter and ClamAV to be 100% safe.
Remember that you should focus on being safe at all times. Using browsers with adblockers, limiting Javascripts, and such will help. Firefox has adblockplus and noscript which should be all you'll need. ClamTk offers a good interface for ClamAV as well. Put rkhunter scanning jobs in cron should give you scheduled scans as needed.
Always also stay up-to-date wh security notices from your vendor and update software regularly.

Did you call your bank yet? Curious what advice their fraud department will give you. We can tell you "oh you should do this" or "maybe you should do that" but it is your bank's policies that actually matter if something bad happens to your account.

I'm not sure what you are trying to say, but I bet if you called your bank and mentioned you have concerns about the security of your account, they would be happy to talk to you.

Any live CD distro would do, if you ever get compromised, it will no longer effect you after a reboot.
