...I run a P3 700- 190 mb RAM - 64 vid - 30 gig HD runnin' XP on a partition (10 gig and the rest of it is not yet formated) as my second PC...for tests and (sometimes dangerous)stuff...
...I wish to install LINUX Kurumim on it(or something close, if you can kindly give me some better choices)
...is it possible to install LINUX on that unformated partition?...without losing windowsXP data?...if not, is there a way to make it right?(even if I have to FORMAT)
...I tryed once to install xubuntu that same way, following some tutorial on swap and all that, but in the end I lost all the windows data...so..so...but...so...
...well, be glad to hear from any of you...I´m really in a mood to give LINUX a try again...
Yeah make quite sure that whatever distro you choose you use the "manual/ Costom Disk" partition option. Kubuntu mentioned above has this feature as do all the other *buntus (K,ED,X & U) here are Partition Tutorials for all 4
This is the distro I use and recommend, Why because it works right out of the box. No need to configure Everything, everything just works. It also comes as a 1 CD install that is a live CD that you can install later if you wish.
...guess I'll try Xubumtu again first...I really liked the interface and I was begging to get a hold of it...what stopped me was a problem with the internet connection but now it is solved (I tryed it with some liveCD distros and it went allright)
...ok...on to it...I'll post the outcome of this adventure...
