knoppix 4.0.2 (2.6.12) HD install kernel upgrade

Hi,
I installed a new kernel for my HD install of knoppix 2.0.4.

For some reason, the new kernel (2.6.15 and 2.5.14) doesn't identify my CD drive and blue-tooth (on my think-pad).

I think it has something to do with module profiles.

Is there a way to fix the INIT to detect it?

Did you compile this kernel yourself? Are you sure you configured all the modules correctly?

You mention two kernels, so I'm a little confused as to which one you're actually running? And from what kernel did you come?

i just apt-get the kernels-images and installed them. i didn't compile a thing.

i think the identification of the CD drive is in the initrd. it says it found it and enables the DMA acceleration.
