Knoopix LIve boot option [lose video]

I am trying a Knoopix 3.8 live boot disk. It seems to work fine until the system loads, then I lose video. It seems my monitor is quirky about a few resolutions. I need to reset the Knoopix boot video resolution.

I can't see it in the boot text, but is there anyway to boot Knoppix in a safe mode where I can changed the resoution once I boot into the GUI?

Or, during boot, can't I get into a control panel to reset the starting video resolution?

Or, once booted, when I don;t have video, is there anything I can do to change the video resolution at that point?

Thanks for any help

There are several things you can do using the boot: cheat codes but remember that nothing is permenant unless your saving your configuration when you logout...

You can specify resolution, X, and Y, frequencies on boot. Example from the cheat code list:

boot: knoppix screen=1280x1024 xvrefresh=60 xhrefresh=80

I also had a problem with 3.7 resolution and found that once in KDE you can open a terminal and type:

sudo kxconfig
This will allow you to specify the monitor from a manufatures list or manually enter the specs.

Don't know if all these will work for 3.8.1 though, but most I believe are unchanged.

Thanks. That should do it..

One thing how on boot do I break in and tyhpe that, is it F1 key? and then how do I restart the boot process into Knoopix also.

When you first boot the LiveCD the first screen at the bottom where it says is where you enter any cheat-codes.

boot:

If you don't enter anything it will time-out and boot with the defaults. I think F2 and F3 give you more boot options. from what I remember in 3.7. Have not seen 3.8.1, however, and they may have changed it.
