Are you talking about the redhat community equivalent CentOS?

Your question was not exactly succinct.

RedHat is not free, you must purchase a subscription.

There are various other OSs that are derived from RedHat and they are free. These being Centos, Scientific, and Fedora. Fedora is the test bed for RedHat.

There is a trial version of sorts. https://www.redhat.com/wapps/eval/in...uation_id=1008
The rest, you pay a yearly fee. http://gb.redhat.com/about/subscription/

CentOS is an identical copy of Red Hat, i believe it is usually a week or so behind RHEL as far as updates/releases go. CentOS is free (as in beer).
