I must differ with OP's characterization of Mageia as unstable.

I've been using Mageia since v. 3 and I have found it quite stable. Right now, it's on my laptop, but I also dual-booted with Windows on my now-deceased Lenovo graphics tablet. The only criticism I have of Mageia is that the repos are not as extensive as I would like, but of course nobody else has repos that contend with Debian's. (What that means is that, a couple of times, I've wanted to install programs that weren't in the repos.)

Just my two cents.

Since the OP was writing in 2015, I suspect his statements are a little dated!
