Fedora is free (no cost) and so is well worth the money. Red Hat is no longer free and the free versions are out of date, so I would stay away from them.

If your reason for switching is curiosity, then Fedora is well worth a look.

And I have moved this to Linux-Distributions as it is about comparing distros.

Fedora Core is constantly updated with the newest stuff (more cutting-edge) as opposed to RHEL, which doesn't update except for security fixes (more stable). Fedora Core also has tons of community-contributed-and-maintained packages that RHEL doesn't have. Also, CentOS is a rebuild of RHEL which is free; so if you want to use something that is exactly like RHEL but free, use CentOS.

so is fedora better then ubuntu?

my reasons for switching is that my sound recording and speakers are not working (i think it is jack that did it) and other little things are not working as well as i would like.

main thing i want working is recording software to record sound on.
