installing suse 9.1 with ftp and floppy

Dear All,
I am trying to install suse 9.1 on a rather old laptop, which only has a floppy drive and a PCMCIA card. Now, I made 3 bootdisks, and they all boot, (well, in fact the first one boots and the other continue the proces of booting, ....) So far so good. I give the option to do an install, I change the source to FTP and I type in the needed information (ip of server etc) the kernel loads and sends me to linuxrc. There it autodetects my pcmcia card and asks for module disk 4, which I happen to have, and the systems seems happy. It loads something into ramdisk and continues by asking for module disk 3 (which i also have!). Then linux gets snotty, and says it cannot read from the disk (cannot find image; try changing directory). When I manualy try to load the network module it says it has a error reading from disk. So, I now have a whining notebook, and tears in my eyes.
What to do?

Copy disk 3 using rawrite in about " different floppies...
I tried the floppy install and FTPed SUSE 9.1 once but for some reason when you make the boot disks #3 seemed to have a tendency to not work. if it does not work at first you have to reset the computer and try again, some times it took 2-3 times before I could get the disk 3 to read properly.

Good luck, you just have to be persistenet or get an external CD-ROM
