installing Linux from scratch or Gentoo without internet

Is there a way to install Gentoo Linux or Linux from Scratch without the internet? I installed Gentoo once. It took me an entire day. If I tried to install Linux from scratch, I would save the documentation and install guide to a floppy, usb drive, or burned cd. The reason I want to install Linux from scratch is so I can learn how Linux works.

There are some sites the cheapbytes that sell LFS on cd with all the files needed for a full base install. Though I'm sure you can just as easily download all the needed files and create the cd yourself.
