My machine currently has Windows XP and Red Hat 7.2 on it and dual boots with LILO. I tried to install Red Hat 8.0 the other day using a boot disk I created with rawrite and when I choose to enter graphical mode for the install it says something like
Loading vmlinuz ........
Loading initrd.img......
And it is on this loading initrd.img that it comes back saying the boot failed and to try another disk. I've using other disks and I keep getting the same messages.
Any ideas as to how I can get this installed or upgrade from 7.2 easily?
Y all this complications ? try to upgrade by booting from the cd. Install grub on the mbr, everything will work fine. also keep a windows startup disk handy..in case grub gives a prob, boot in with that and issue
fdisk /mbr
if ur c: drive in ntfs then there might be problems. i had problems when my c drive was ntfs.
Oh, I doubt it is that odd.
I read usenet, websites and bulletin boards prior to installing and for a good year after without ever posting. I didn't register either though.
Isn't that what RTFM means?
Part of the reason I participate now is so newbie lurkers can have a good lurk.
