I have installed KnoppMythR5F27 using 'auto install' on a Dell Dimension 5150c all seems OK when I reboot or switch the PC on I get "mythtv login:".
I can login in as me or Root but cannot get to a GUI screen, from the documentation I expected to launch straight into GNOME.
Not being a Linux expert I tend to rely on GUI. Am I missing a step ?
Many thanks in advance.
First, login and run the command "startx". If it runs X, then you are good. Exit X, and move read the next paragraph. If X doesn't start, then you'll need to reply so we can help you get X running.
Open the /etc/inittab file in a text editor. Look for the line similar to "id:5:initdefault:". If yours has a 3 instead of a 5, change it to a 5 and save the file. You can then run "init 5". The next time you reboot, it should then automatically go to the GUI.
I entered startx and cam up with the following messages ( have not managed to capture all the message as it has scrolled past the top of the screen):

Well, your X config file might be wrong... There should be a command to configure it. Might be "xorgconfig" or "Xorg -config" or something else, I don't use KnoppMyth, so I don't know for sure.
You might also search Google for KnoppMyth and your graphics card.
