Installation of packages with apt-get / synaptic breaking Xandros Networks?

Hi

I used Xandros 3 Business Edition before and was wondering about trying Xandros 4 now. I think it looks like a great system, but last time i stopped using it because it seemed like Xandros Network stopped working after i installed and upgraded packages using the apt-get package tool from the command line instead of using Xandros Networks. I have read from the comments section on a review that this has happened with others too (or at least the one that commented on that review).. I think Xandros Networks is nice, but i want to primarily use the command-line and will probably never use Xandros Networks except looking at it and maybe install a thing or two to check it out.

Is it possible to turn off Xandros Networks so i can safely install packages with apt-get / synaptic without breaking anything in the system?

And, what do you guys/girls think of Xandros? Has anyone ever tried installing GNOME in Xandros?

Also (im taking this questions here too to not having to start another thread) ..is there any differences from xandros 3 to xandros 4 except updated software, kernel and X window system? ..i cant see any major differences.. except that they maybe put in a driver so many wireless cards work..
