install linux at the first time
 
I want to install Linux Server and the fisrt question is what vendor recommended Fidora, knoppix...
I'm looking for free version.

Once i decided about the vendor what is the procedure to install the linux server.

As You may notice from my signature below, I would sencerely recommend Slackware for a server.
What applications are planed to be served by it?

CentOS, Debian are good servers
