info on creating my own distro
for some reason i would like to know what goes into making my own distro. what languages would i need to know, how to create my own installer, if it is needed to make my own packaging system or if i could use... say *.deb or *.rpm. i am not knowing why i want to know this but i just want to know.
i am currently using Debian Woody built off of just the base system but as i read the LFS documentation (4.1) i am realizing that my current system isn't as close to LFS as i thought. then i got to thinking about making my own distro to share with everyone once i come up with an idea of something cool. now i am starting to think that i am not up to this. so before i stop looking for the knowledge completely (i have been looking for answers for the last 8 hours) i am going to ask for help on where to get the answers.
p.s. if none of this makes sense that is due to the fact that i have been staring at a computer screen for the last 8 hours and my eyes hurt to the point i can't think without concentrating hard.

i don't know how helpful this will be, but seeing as how there are currently 0 replies, it's better than nothing.

You might wanna look at ALFS, Gentoo, or simply the LFS/BLFS books.
These should give you some sort of an idea of where to go with the idea. Don't be discouraged by this, but, maybe a distro has everything you want already:

OR
do what you want
