Though this may not be the same on your box: I can get to the up2date via KDE menu --> System Tools --> Red Hat Network The icon is different, but it's still up2date.

Getting Redhat 8 update icon to stay in KDE panel

What you need to do is start the term window and run the command:

rhn-applet-gui &

Then, close all of your open apps EXCEPT for the term you issued the command in.

Logout of KDE, but choose to save the session for future logins. Log back in -- the update icon should be there, as well as the term window. Close the term window. The update icon should still be there.

If it is, simply logout again, again saving the session for future logins. Log back in, and you should get back the update icon without an term window open.

Hope it works for you, as it did for me!

Works like a charm, you don't relize how much this little icon means to you till it disappears.

Thanks alot rardentech
