Question I currently am running Ubuntu 14.4 but would like to install Mint 17.1


Is there some commands I
can use in terminal that will help me to install Mint 17.1.

Not generally recommended - see this.
On that same site you will find other tutes that suggest ways to do the upgrade rather than full replacement. Also other blogs on the net.

FWIW on my Mint systems I do a full replacement using a separate /home partition.
