HP officejet g85
hi all, i need some help here. i have an HP Officejet G85 and running suse 9.1 pro. got my printer working after an update for hpoj and a password reset, easy enough. BUT...i have to manually start ptal every time i want to print...WTF?? i tried the suse forum advice to run yast and enable ptal from the runlevel editor, but it hangs and wont let me quit the program. i have to reboot...thats annoying. thought that we wouldnt have to reboot so much in linux.
i can deal with that issue. my hp is an all in one. i cant get sane to recognize the scanner. can u help with this anyone??? seems suse is just not seeing my hp as a scanner. yast or manually. what can i do. also having issues using my flash crad reader to mount...whole nother issue i wont bore u with! i have been searching on how to fix the scanner issue and its apparent that it has been an issue for previous versions, havent they fixed it yet??? i tried to install sane rpm for suse, but iit failed to install b/c of dependency issues...yuck. thanks for any help! annette |

This is all the help that SuSE can provide on this subject. Follow the instructions to the letter. Try using /usr/share/cups/model/HP/OfficeJet_G85-hpijs.ppd.gz as your printer ppd. If you are using KDE, you should install the kdegraphics3-scan package using Yast2. It should install all the dependencies. You will need the sane package installed to do any scanning. Don't forget to uncomment hpoj in the /etc/sane.d/dll.conf file. |
