grub-install /dev/hda should put it in the MBR.

Well I had a similar problem with a two-disk RAID 1 server (Fujitsu Primergy TS 100 S1 with hardware RAID).

Though install went well and also the installation of Grub there was no rebooting after install ... and the reboot into "rescue" did not bring the wanted results.

Anybody knows??

It would be best to start a new thread with your problem, instead of hijacking an existing thread.

@cccc: Boot from the install disc, then choose in the boot menu "Advanced options" and select the rescue mode. After answering some questions you should come to a menu were you will be given an option to repair grub. Select this and all should be fine.
