Post how to install two distros on one hard disks?

Hi guys !!

I have a 40 Gb Harddisk, I want to install Slackware and Debian in the same disk.
I have Debian CD (Woody) to install it, but I ´m waiting for Slack 9.0. żAny have a howto for install two distros in the same hard disk ? I want 20 gb to Slack and 20 to Debian.
I undestand that the Swap partitions is the same, but i don't know how to make the others partitions. Suppose I could have the next
/ (for boot) /usr /var and /home parititions for Debian.

Regards !!

Thanks in advance

Eliud

install debian first leave the space unformated then tell slakware to use the remaining space and slackware will set the boot loader for you. but i am not sure for the swap spaces.

Hello piraxter.
Others will definately disagree with me, but on multi-boot hard disks, I install the complete distro to "/" (root) with no other partitions and share swap. It makes it so much easier.
If nothing else is on your disk you can partition your disk during the install of the first distro. There is usually an option during install to partition your hard disk yourself. You could possibly need to choose advanced install to do this. You would just create the swap and two Linux partitions (or more), before the install of the first distro.
I would suggest creating some spare space for either file backup or to try another distro sometime.
If your hard disk is blank, you could practice partitioning a time or two before actual install.
Good Luck.
