help with wireless network adapter/xandros distro!

well so far, i have not found a linux OS that recognizes my Linksys wusb 1.1 wireless-G adapter, except for suse 9.3. And She ONLY recognized it! I still could not get it configured and ended up haveing to take it in the house and hardwire it to the router in order to get patches! Now I have xandros on my main pc, (dual boot with xp). adapter works great with xp but xandros does not see it! I Really RREEAALLYY want to chuck my microsoft programs in the trash and join the linux family, but not until i can beat this problem with getting my linux systems on line!
Can someone please direct me on where to go from desktop and how to configure settings to get wireless working? Im a newbie to linux command line language and even where you would go to TYPE that language so please explain in simple terms. THANX! Scott

Hi,
I'm not a real Linux "knowitall" but I'll try to help.
i assume you want to have your wireless card working in Xandros, right?
What version of Xandros are u using?
If Ur using 3.02 then it is easy, just go into "Control Center", and click "Network".
Then go into "Network Connection" and at the bottom of the page click "Administrator".
Fill in the root password, and click "ok".
Then go to the "Wireless" tab, and to "Windows wireless driver" u see at the bottom of the richthand corner.
Then load the windows driver Windhoze uses for your card.
Then fill in the blanks, if your wireless router is secured.
After that click apply, and go to the "interfaces" tab.
There, if everything worked well, u should see your etho and eth1 card, where eth1is your wireless card. Select that one, make sure u have "Enable Network" selected, and at the bottom "Set gateway bla bla"also selected. Then release and renew your IP.
After that your card should work in Xandros.

Good luck.

I'm a very sattisfied Xandros user, eventhough I had to reinstall it quit a few times, but that was because I am too nosy, tweaked things too much. ;-)

Will.

Thank you!
Actually this problem has been corrected for quite some time now. The post you replyed to was made a little prematurely.
I have Xandros OCE installed (once again) as part of a triple boot (for lack of a better term). I have Mandriva LE 2005 and WinXp H.E. together on my PC with Xandros. Yes Xandros is a great OS! I actually have no problems connecting my wireless with her now that Im more familiar with control center>.
Thanks again!
