anyone know why with just the kernel and the header files installed the ATI firegl drivers error with
This driver is designed to only work with X4.1.0 or higher.
You can match this by getting Linux kernel 2.4.8 or higher.
which is a dumbass programing because that is not the problem here. so then when i compile a kernel even if it is not running or installed the error message changes to failed to install module file but completes the build process.
i have found that the driver compile make a symbolic link to fglrx.ko which build into the fire gl custom directory but the file does not exist in physical. is there some symbolic link that i am missing out here or is it a kernel module or is there one small header file hiding away somewhere.
does anyone know anything which might help me here.
what about this i am currently playing with:
link /usr/src/linux-2.6 to /lib/modules/`uname -r`/build
i am led to believe that the header files somewhat builds to it then installs from there. never the less that is what the driver is actually doing automatically in the script . the problem comes where it cant find the files it needs even though they are right in front of it. why i must be missing something so if anyone knows anything i would be very great-full for your help.
Thanks all
