Get XMMS to play mp3 in SUSE 9.1 pro

Apparently, SUSE 9.1 pro doesn't include mp3 codecs for licence reasons. How do I get XMMS to play mp3 files?

Suse does include mp3 libs. If you can't playback mp3, it must be for some other reason.
