Hi,

I am trying to install from Stage3 tarball from CD.

I followed all the steps up to entering the chroot (just before step 9 in the i386 install manual). I chose not to edit make.conf since I want to try it with its default settings (and b/c I've had such a bitch of time installing this OS in the past). I changed the time zone, but didn't alter the default etc/fstab since it seemed to look okay.

I then ran the command:

emerge -k sys-kernel/gentoo-sources

but got the following response:

!!!No profile directory; system mode unavailable.

Anyone know what I missed here?

I didn't successfully import the portage and distfiles from the CD. After trying again, I have gotten further.
