Gentoo 1.4...how long to emerge Xfree?

Cos this thing has been crunching away for at least 30min now.

Celeron 500mhz, 256mb, 10gb HDD

Should it really be taking this long? Just commands and code flashing across the screen at mach 0.7

i'm linux ignorant, so try not to lose me if there's something i should try.

Hehe :-) believe me, it takes a few HOURS co compile even on my 1Ghz Penti3 it needs about 2h to compile.

Go sleeping while your computer works :-)

Whatever you do - don't 'emerge kde'.That will be about 2 days.If you need kde emerge kdebase and take it from there.
