I'm looking to find that linux distro for desktop PC I download the odd thing but mostly my banking and paying my bills as of now I'm using mint 17.1 is that a good choice
because I came from Windows 7
All Linuxen pretty much work the same once you get them installed. It's a question of how geeky you want to go. Based on your needs, Mint looks like a good choice.
Mint 17 is an excellent choice. I'm running it on one of my workhorse computers right now.
If you want to try out some other distros, try downloading and booting to the Live versions, or, if you have enough RAM and HDD space, load them up in a VM. VirtualBox or another virtualizer can make distro hopping easy and effortless.
