Finally my RH8 is usable :D

After manipulating my RH8 install for the past 4 days i think i finally have it setup in a way i can live with, and its actually working pretty damn good.

Why they didn't enable DMA on the cdrom devices is beyond me, and u can't even enable it until you edit your modules.conf

Im gonna stick with it for a while, it seems to be an alright distro once u add everything they took out multimedia wise

Maybe this is a stupid question, but couldn't you do
hdparm -d1 /dev/cdrom (or whatever device your cdrom is)?

What about editing your /proc/ide/hdx/settings file and set the udma option manually? (hdx points to your cdrom device)
Wouldn't that work?
