In the meantime, I have actually simple given up on my laptop which i allowed to expire, and is now outfitted with vista as it were.
I however, have purchased a desktop as a gaming machine which I have loaded with Ubuntu, and have fallen in love with it. I consider myself at least moderately computer savvy, and the feeling of satisfaction I get from having to actively work and customize the OS in order to make my programs work properly is undescribable.
Happy to be one of the good guys again.
