Erasing partition table
 

Hello,

How could i rewrite my partition table as to have only the Windows OS partition?

It is my job's computer and i have already installed Slackware, Ubuntu, and Xubuntu (which are great) but now i definitely need to erase those because i am not allowed to do it, according to my boss.

I have installed gparted but could also work with cfdisk.

My computer needs to be as it was in the beginning, otherwise i could be in a big trouble.

If you made a clone image of the drive before you installed said Linux distro's, then you could just restore the image.

If you didn't make a clone image of the drive beforehand; then is there any reason why you can't just use Gparted (or whatever other partitioning program) to delete the Linux partitions, and if need be restore the bootloader (if you overwrote the MBR) ?

Why can't you just use Windows Disk Management to delete and merge?

I did not make a clone image, so i have to delete the linux partitions, right?

I had tried that already but something is preventing gparted from erasing said partitions (something to do with logical partitions...). I am currently out of the office but will get back tomorrow with the specific error.

If you don't have a clone, it's a fresh install? Then use disk tool during the install...

I did not know that, but nevertheless, it definitely sounds like it needs root privileges, which i do not have on windows (and i would be in a even bigger trouble if i ask our manager to perform that kind of task on the computer). This guy is allergic to linux...

Can't even read a picture anymore... :rolleyes: but in that case it's easier. See post #3...

Don't do anything until you have re-installed the Windows boot-loader. Do it from a recovery disk - if you don't have one, Windows has tools to build one. Then you can delete the Linux partitions, including that swap, from a Linux liveCD.
