I just installed Elementary OS in my HP Compaq nc6400 (is really old) and been having some problems with video.
First of all, when i boot i see this before it starts grub and boot into the OS. It diaappears quickly and then starts grub.
It says this:
Code:
error: out of disk.
error: no suitable mode found.
error: no video mode activated.
Then, when i tried to install Broadcom Drivers. When it started downloading them and this happened
I had to reboot. After it, i searched for the drivers in the Additional Drivers section of Settings and they were no longer there but i cannot start my wifi connection..
I was connected by ethernet and was searching for a how to download them and i got this black screen
Now this happens (or the last picture) if I stay too much in the OS (like 10 min)
I dont know what to do
first of all, i don't think elementary is the right type of distro, even though they claim to be lightweight.
I thought my laptop was going to be able to run it, it ran Ubuntu pretty good even though it is old. This surprised me and I decided to try Linux mint or Elementary..

here are search results from distrowatch for "old computers".
i do NOT recommend puppy linux.
try SliTaZ or AntiX.
I have seen those results before, but havent tried out AntiX or SliTaZ, just Lubuntu (which I dislike), LXLE and #! (I couldnt adapt to it)
I'll try Bodhi and AntiX, if i dont like them I'll return to LXLE
