Dual-booting PCLOS and arch linux[Solved]

hey people

i'm trying to get arch to dual boot with pclos but i keep running into problems with arch

each OS is on there own Hard drive
when i booted into arch
1st thing is i have no usb
mouse doesnt even light up
2nd thing is i cant mount my cd-rom
mount: error unknown file system iso9660

3rd when i uname -r i get 2.6.16.27.tex1.lve

booting into PCLOS

i get the file system check reports bad superblock on hdd3
i have to use the shutdown -rf now to bypass the file system check

i guess my question is what did i do wrong and where do i start fixing everything that is wrong
thanks blame

Would these be old HDDs? You'll want to verify the filesystem via the usual tools fo each OS.

1. Check "lsmod" to make sure the usbhid module is being used. (if not, try "modprobe usbhid")
2. Sounds like the iso9660 driver is not there.

This is looking like an incomplete installation...

How so? Generally, grub has nothing to do with it once the OS is loaded.

If you install PCLinuxOS, then another distro, you may find that you have changed the properties of one or more partitions. When you try to run PCLinuxOS again, the information in /etc/fstab will not match the data on the HDDs themselves, and the installation may abort.

The solution is to run the other distro, or a live CD, and mount the partition where you have installed PCLinuxOS. Then change the fstab file by deleting lines relating to any partitions that may have been changed.

You will then be able to run PCLinuxOS, and rebuild the data for those partitions via the Control Centre.

ok what happend was grub was loading the boot img vmlinuz.img
from pclos

the line for arch in grub was

Code:
kernel (hd0,0)/boot/vmlinuz root=/dev/hdd1
initrd (hd0,0)/boot/initrd.img

when it needed to be this
Code:
kernel (hd1,0)/boot/vmlinuz26 root=/dev/hdd1 ro
initrd (hd1,0)/boot/initrd26.img

i guess i'm not following what your saying

i need to give alittle more info about this

PSLOS is installed on HDA1 /root, HDA2 { HDA5 Swap,HDA6 /home,Hda7 /usr ,HDA8 /mnt/storage}
Arch Linux is installed on HDD1 /root,HDD2 Swap ,HDD3 /home
HDD3 is archs /home partition

whats confuseing is this partition has nothing to do with pclos
i've remeoved the lines in fstab that refer to this drive

and i still have this problem

thanks blame

I'm not focussing on every detail here, but this is a problem:

Quote:
when it needed to be this:

kernel (hd1,0)/boot/vmlinuz26 root=/dev/hdd1 ro
initrd (hd1,0)/boot/initrd26.img
hdd1 = 4th drive, 1st partition (normal counting)
hd1,0 = 2nd drive, 1st partition (GRUB counting)
(ONE of these is wrong!!)

Post the output of "fdisk -l" (run as root), and also the complete contents of the grub.conf file (AKA menu.lst)
