I've had problems with winxp dual booting....i once had to wipe and reinstall because no matter what i did, i couldn't get my dos MBR back! so i did some research, and found that, for me, it's easiest to use lilo in the boot sector of the linux partition, and use the NTLDR under Windows to point to my linux install. Google it, i don't have the details right now, i'm waiting for a class and i'm on a public machine.... the only drawback to this is that you have to copy the first 512 of the device you boot linux from and put it in a file in the root of the c: drive. especially painful when you have to do it any time lilo or the kernel changes, and I have to put the boot.lnx file on a floppy, reboot, and copy it from the floppy to my NTFS partition. But i have it pretty well practiced! Good luck!
