Unhappy Downloading SuSE?!!

Hi,

I tried a few distros already (Red Hat and Mandrake) and they didn't work out quite well for me. So I decided to try out SuSE. I don't get the download stuff. For mandrake, all you have to do is download the iso image. Please help!

Hi dbzw,

You can't download the ISO images. SuSE is one of the only major distro that doesn't freely make its ISO images available, but you can buy them http://store.suse.com for reasonable prices. Something like $40 for personal and $80 for pro. It comes with CDs/DVDs, a manual and tech support.

You can, however, download the boot image from their website (it's around 20mb) for free (http://www.suse.com/us/private/downl...nux/index.html). Burn it to a CD and make it bootable (you can usually tick an option in your burning program). Follow the instructions on the SuSE site (same link as above) on how to install from the internet.

Worked great for me, though be warned... it takes a long time. I just let mine download overnight.

Good luck.
