download manager reverses direction

I have never seen it before and it only effects large files, but while downloading the DVD fedora core 2 the download manager reversed direction and started send ing the files back the other way, or that's what it looks like is happening.

I go to an ftp mirror site w/ mozilla and starting a download. The download manager ( i guess mozilla, its not identified) opens and starts ticking off bytes downloaded of the total with a bar graph ( 2+ gig for the DVD iso). It downloads all night and into the next morning. when it reaches the end it reverses direction and the bytes downloaded start going in reverse and the tranfer rate indicates a negative sign like -32.6 kb/sec. Its putting it back where it found it!!

what's the deal with that????
