Unhappy Don't get any CDROM Dev..

Hey everybody..
I'm out trying new distros.. but I have a problem..
I try to install JDS 2003 (Sun's Java Desktop System) but after I reboot the first time (after it has copied all filed from cd one and installed the boot loader) it can't find my cdrom drive. (a A2500 DVD-RW from NEC.) and I can't fullfill the installation and just get an half system.. the same thing happends when I install gentoo 2004.2 (Also there after the first reboot. Were is after the system is installed..). can it be as bad as those two distros don't support to just have an DVD-RW?
